They need to have superb attention to detail, which allows them to input accurate data and check their work to catch errors. They should have superior typing and/or 10-key skills to work at an efficient pace for large volume work.

Description

Data Processing Clerks typically work for corporations either in the office or remotely to help them maintain accurate data records for their company. They work closely with other Data Processing Clerks to divide tasks and verify each other’s work. Their job is to use computer devices and software programs to input and update a variety of data.

Typical duties include:

  • Create spreadsheets to track important information.
  • Transfer data from hard copy to a digital database.
  • Organize existing data in a spreadsheet.
  • Verify outdated data and make any necessary changes to records.
  • Operate common office equipment, like scanners and printers.
  • Search for and investigate information contained in files.
  • Perform regular database backups to secure data.
  • Input text-based and numerical information from source documents.
  • Review data for deficiencies or errors.
  • Provide data entry support across departments on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Type in data quickly and efficiently.

Typical Qualifications:

  • Fast typing skills; knowledge of touch typing system is strongly preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.)
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices
  • Basic understanding of databases
  • Good command of English both oral and written and customer service skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • High school degree or equivalent

Base Hourly: $17 per hour
Annual: $35000 – $46000
