A mammographer is a specialized technologist that uses x-ray equipment to capture breast images for physicians to diagnose breast diseases, such as cancer. This job can be emotionally heavy, but very rewarding. A mammographer needs to be able to help the patient through their fear and emotions, staying cool calm and collected for them, while capturing high-quality images.
Description
Performs mammographic procedures at a technical and professional level. Performs a variety of technical procedures with competence, commitment, and initiative.
Typical Requirements:
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Current licensure by the State of Oregon in Mammography.
- Certification in CPR / AED.
- High school Diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Medical terminology, computers, and typing experience.
- Detail-oriented and effective organizational skills.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, providers, and the public
- Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping close attention to accuracy with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently and as a team participant.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of recent experience in Mammography.
- Ability to interpret orders for routine and special Mammographic studies.
- Sufficient creativity and independent judgment to modify learned skills to fit individual patient circumstances.
Pay Ranges
Base Hourly:
$40 per hour
Annual:
$81000 – $105000
