As a Patient Service Specialist, you work between patients and medical support staff to schedule appointments and route messages. This job involves a lot of people interaction, organization, and scheduling.

Description

Screens and schedules patient appointments and creates and routes patient messages.  Serves as liaison between patient and medical support staff.  Performs related clerical duties.

Typical Requirements: 

  1. Experience dealing with the public in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment or office setting.
  2. Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and courteously. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  3. Ability to process a large number of incoming calls.
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping close attention to accuracy.
  5. Ability to accurately take messages and schedule appointments.
  6. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to forward patient information to the medical staff. Must be able to pass the required spelling and typing test.
  7. Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
  8. Must be able to work independently and as a team participant.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. One year of work experience in a medical office setting.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
  3. Previous experience with computer and word processing.

Pay Ranges

Base Hourly: $18 per hour
Annual: $37000 – $58000

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
Est. Experience Required: 1 years
