People successful in this role are warm and engaging, while professional and efficient. A Patient Service Specialist greets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. They answers phones, make appointments and take messages for patients. They serves as liaison between patient and medical support staff.


Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 

  • Experience dealing with the public in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment or office setting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and courteously. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping close attention to accuracy.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation in order to forward patient information to the medical staff.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team participant.


Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. One year of work experience in a medical office setting.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
  3. Previous experience with cash handling, word processing, and using computers.

Pay Ranges

Base Hourly: $20 per hour
Annual: $42000 – $53000
