A Patient Account Representative works with patients in-person or over the phone to understand their medical bills, address questions and to investigate billing concerns. A Patient Account Representative must have good communication skills and must pay attention to details. Medical insurance is complicated and can require patience to see a concern through to resolution.

Description

Provides prompt and accurate insurance billing and customer service relating to patient billing questions.

Typical Requirements: 

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Organizational skills.
  3. Detail-oriented.
  4. Strong phone skills
  5. Strong computer skills.
  6. Communication skills – effective listening, writing, spelling, and reading skills.
  7. Basic computer skills.
  8. Telephone skills.
  9. Able to work as a team.
  10. Minimum two years experience in the business office within the medical field
  11. Ability to handle cash and balance accounts receivable

Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Pay Ranges

Base Hourly: $20 per hour
Annual: $41000 – $57000

High school diploma or equivalent
